A basic scale and polish is the traditional cleaning that removes plaque and tartar.
Our Advanced Hygiene Session includes everything in a standard clean plus AIRFLOW® technology, which gently and precisely removes biofilm and stains, especially around implants, braces, and retainers.
It’s our standard for a deeper, more thorough clean.
You may need an Extended Advanced Hygiene Session if it’s been a while since your last dental hygiene session, you have heavier tartar build-up, gum inflammation (gingivitis), or sensitive teeth that require local anaesthetic.
We recommend having a dental check-up with one of our dentists before your hygiene session. However, if you already have a dentist elsewhere and wish to benefit from our Advanced Hygiene platform, you’re welcome to book directly online for either Level 1 (Advanced) or Level 2 (Extended Advanced) sessions.
Our booking system clearly explains when to choose each option.
If you have recent dental X-rays, please share them with us before your appointment. For more details, you can also Download or read our Direct Access Protocol
Both treatments are gentle and comfortable. If you have sensitive teeth or require deeper cleaning, a local anaesthetic or numbing gel can be used to ensure comfort.
You may experience mild sensitivity, especially if you have gum inflammation or recession and exposed root surfaces.
This is one reason we recommend seeing a dentist first to rule out decay, assess your sensitivity level, and advise the hygienist accordingly for the most comfortable and safe experience.
Brush twice daily with an electric toothbrush, clean between teeth with floss or interdental brushes, and see your hygienist regularly (usually every 4–6 months).
Your hygienist will personalise a home care routine and recall interval to help keep your gums healthy long-term.
Most patients benefit from a hygiene session every 6 months, depending on their gum health and home care routine.
If you have braces, or a history of gum problems, your hygienist or dentist may recommend more frequent visits to maintain optimal oral health and prevent future issues.
