Tooth Coloured Restorations from Ceramics and Composites

Fillings, Crowns, Onlays and Veneers

Tooth-coloured or Composite filling materials are essentially plastic strengthened with fine glass and ceramic particles. They almost match the colour of the teeth hence the treatment of choice to repair broken, chipped or decayed teeth.

Modern-day composites are durable however like any other man-made object subject to wear and tear. The process of bonding takes more time and technique sensitive, hence they cost more than the equivalent cheap and quick amalgam fillings.

Composite fillings are likely to wear and not suitable or strong enough for some situations, particularly where there is already a large filling in a tooth or a patient suffering from extreme grinding. A more permanent solution might be a crown (cap) using different tooth-colored materials like Porcelain (ceramic), Zirconia, or Gold. The length of time any filling lasts can vary based on several factors, such as the size, material, area of coverage, if you grind or clench your teeth. The fee for high quality composite fillings starts from £240 at Angel Smile. After getting a filling or any repair, particularly if the decay was deep, it's common for the tooth to feel sensitive. In most cases, this sensitivity settles down on its own within few hours or days. However, if it doesn't improve, a root canal treatment may be needed.

Suitable to restore small and medium size decays,  prevent further decay, tooth-colored, bonds with tooth, maintains oral function,  not for high load-bearing zones.

Potential temporary sensitivity or discomfort, infection risk if broken, risk of cracks over time where exposed to heavy bite force,  Regular check-ups are crucial for monitoring.

Composite white fillings: from £240

Temporary filling: £110
Ceramic Overlay, Onlay: from £650

In general, a single dental filling typically takes about 20-40 minutes. However, more complex cases or multiple fillings may require additional time

Crowns provide a robust solution for teeth weakened by decay, breakage, or large fillings. They cover the tooth, distributing bite forces evenly to prevent further fractures. This protective "wrap-around" effect is crucial in high-stress areas, ensuring the tooth's longevity and preventing potential loss. Ideal for restoring structural integrity, crowns maintain both function and aesthetics. A crown could be used for a number of other reasons:

  • - you may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth
  • - you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect what is left of the tooth.
  • - it may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

Our crowns can be made of tooth coloured Porcelain or Zirconium which are strong and most natural materials. We will prepare the tooth to the ideal shape, take a digital impression (mould) of the prepared tooth & give to the dental technician along with an appropriate shade and other information needed. A temporary will be made so that ( mostly for aesthetic). The final restoration is back usually in one or two weeks time & will be fitted after you and your dentist are happy with the fit and appearance of it. Types of Crowns

Posterior Crown

Our posterior crowns, made from durable zirconia or E-max ceramics, are designed to withstand heavy bite forces, ensuring optimal function and strength for your chewing needs.

Bonded Crown

This crown is made of a metal base and porcelain coating . We don’t offer this because the metal can show through the crown’s surface. This can affect the appearance of your smile, especially for crowns on front teeth.

Anterior Crown

Our anterior crowns are crafted from natural-looking, biocompatible porcelain, meticulously matched to your teeth using electronic shade detectors and shade guides. For exceptional aesthetic needs, technician consultations are available at an additional cost.

Crown Margin

Gum recession can expose the edges of a crown, leading to potential issues like cavities, discoloration, or tooth sensitivity. If this occurs, the old crown can be replaced with a new, longer one to cover the affected area and restore your tooth’s health and appearance.

Post & Core Build up

Teeth that have become severely compromised by decay, large fracture or big failed restorations often require full-coverage crowns to restore them to their original form and function. In cases where root canal therapy is needed. dentist must then evaluate whether there is enough structural integrity remaining to support a definitive crown by a core build-up alone, or use a retained post (pin) to secure the core foundation to the root and distribute bite force to root. The main purpose of a core build- up is to replace enough missing tooth structure to allow the creation of ideal resistance and retention of the crown preparation.

restoring tooth strength, providing support for a crown, and enhancing the longevity and stability of dental restorations

Root damage or fracture, leading to tooth loss, and dislodgment. In high-risk cases, dental implants offer a safer, more reliable and cost effective option.

Fiber post and core buildup starting from £260.

Metal posts may be used as temporary or transitional solution from £180

Fiber post and core buildup is typically performed on the same day as the root treatment, requiring an additional 30 minutes time.

White Inlays and Overlays

Depending on the extent of the repair required, sometimes the full top surface of the tooth is removed. A Full Onlay is then produced to replace the biting surface.

enhanced bonding, aesthetic appearance, preservation of natural tooth structure, durability, and resistance compared to composites, effectively recreating interproximal contact between teeth.

Potential temporary tooth sensitivity, when persistent may require root treatment. If another part of the tooth breaks, this necessitates replacement with a crown for full coverage.

Ceramic Onlays, Overlays made by laboratory from £760

CEREC Same Day Onlays , Overlays £860

Unless CEREC Same Day Onlay, it typically involve two visits  with the first appointment for preparation and scan, and the second for fit. The preparations in laboratory spans about  10 working days .

Fissure Filling or Sealing

The cost of one single implant is £1400 ( use Special offer voucher code ASW1023 and get £200 off )  The implant needs to be restored with a post crown which depending function and aesthetic demand starts from £1200.
