Why regular monitoring matters?

Biological Problems

Inflammation around the implant that can lead to bone loss, known as peri-implantitis.

Biomechanical Problems

Loosening or loss of the crown due to fracture, wear, or overload.

Ongoing aftercare

At Angel Smile, we carefully monitor every implant to protect against complications. Even with modern guided surgery, long-term success depends on follow-up.
  • Dentist reviews: every 6–12 months (3-6 months initially), including bite checks and X-rays.
  • Hygienist visits: every 3–6 months, tailored to your gum health.
  • Bite assessment: after any new filling. crown, bridge, or even retainer, we check that the bite is balanced. Overloading an implant is a common cause of mechanical complications.
Guarantee reassurance
If you had your dental implant placed at our practice, any issue that arises within your guarantee period (two years or more, depending on your treatment package) will be fully covered under our implant warranty policy.

Your role with maintenance

Your daily care makes the biggest difference to implant longevity.
  • Brush twice daily with an electric toothbrush.
  • Clean between implants with interdental brushes; use a water flosser for bridges or full-arch cases.
  • Avoid smoking — it increases implant complications.
  • Use a nightguard if you clench or grind your teeth.
  • Follow the tailored home-care advice given at your appointments.

Common dental implant problems we treat

If your implant crown feels loose or moves when chewing, you notice bleeding around your implant or it feels uncomfortable, you'll need to book an appointment urgently.

Implant restorations occasionally require professional adjustment or component replacement. With the right planning and ongoing care, this is uncommon, but when it does happen, it’s important to address the issue promptly.

If you notice your implant crown feels loose or moving, it may be related to the crown, screw, abutment, or rarely, the implant itself. A clinical exam and X-ray are always required to identify the cause.

Dental implant repair solutions:

  • Tightening or replacing a screw or crowns
  • Repairing chipped or worn implant teeth
  • Cleaning and re-cementing a crown
  • Replacing damaged components
  • Adjusting or replacing an abutment
  • Treating infection around the implant (peri-implantitis)

We use detailed clinical assessment and imaging, when needed, to accurately diagnose implant issues.Without treatment, inflammation around implants can progress and affect the supporting bone.

If you received your implant at a different clinic

If your implant treatment was performed at another clinic and you experience a problem, please first contact your original implant dentist, as they will have your full records.

If that’s not possible, we are happy to help — but please bring as much information as you can, such as:

  • The implant brand and model
  • Your implant certificate or any treatment record
  • Whether your crown is screw-retained or cemented, and if cemented, which cement was used
👉 If you don’t have access to your implant certificate, please provide as much information as possible. These details are essential in case we need to contact the implant company’s representative to order the correct components, drivers, or tools.

Treatment fees for external patients

Fees will be explained before any procedure, following the assessment in your consultation.
  • £120 – Assessment fee, including a small radiograph, and a proposed treatment plan.
  • £90 – Gum contouring (trimming/reshaping )
  • £180 – screw tightening or re-cementation (when feasible)
  • £1,400 – new screw-retained implant crown and abutment replacement (if the existing abutment/crown cannot be reused)
  • + Any implant components or laboratory charges where applicable

🔔 Please note: There is no guarantee that a lost or loose crown can be fixed at all, or on the same day. Repeated problems require re-charging, as they indicate biomechanical fatigue or overload of implant components.

Monitoring

Regular reviews and bite checks prevent biological and biomechanical risks.

Maintenance

Daily home care and healthy lifestyle choices keep implants strong.

Repair

If attention is needed, we offer tailored solutions — and we often see patients seeking support with implants placed at other clinics.
