Crowns are ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A crown could be used for a number of other reasons:

you may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth

you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect what is left of the tooth.

it may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

Crowns can be made of Metal/Porcelain, Zirconium/Porcelain or pressed porcelain which are strong and most natural materials. We will prepare the tooth to the ideal shape, take an impression (mould) of the prepared tooth & give to the dental technician along with an appropriate shade and other information needed. A temporary will be made so that ( mostly for aesthetic). The final restoration is back usually in one week time & will be fitted after you and your dentist are happy with the fit and appearance of it.

Please make an appointment with our dentist in Angel and ask for advice, You will get your beautiful smile back!

Types of Crowns

Posterior Crown

The tooth is prepared and a crown is then made and fitted to the tooth.

Bonded Crown

The crown which has a metal base and porcelain coating is created.

Over time the gum can recede away from the crown … … this is known as the crown margin. The old crown can be removed … … and a new, deeper crown fitted to cover this area. – See more at: https://www.angelsmile.co.uk/crown-margin/#sthash.e35sPYeA.dpuf

Teeth that have become severely compromised by decay, large fracture or big failed restorations often require full-coverage crowns to restore them to their original form and function. In cases where root canal therapy is needed. dentist must then evaluate whether there is enough structural integrity remaining to support a definitive crown by a core build-up alone, or use a retained post (pin) to secure the core foundation to the root and distribute bite force to root. The main purpose of a core build- up is to replace enough missing tooth structure to allow the creation of ideal resistance and retention of the crown preparation.
